Mission of the Association of National Olympic Committees
"Represent the interests of the NOCs, stand for and explain their point of view in all matters relating to the Olympic Movement and especially the Olympic Games, for which the NOCs have the exclusive right to enter athletes."
ANOC fulfils this objective by submitting its proposals at the Olympic Congresses and the annual meetings with the IOC Executive Board, as well as through its representatives at the IOC permanent Commissions and Working Groups.
Among other issues, ANOC proposals deal with:
- Safeguarding the Olympic Games' universal character, while always taking the measures necessary to preserve the highest level of competition.
- The Olympic Program, seeing to its stability, without precluding changes in order to reflect in due time the development of sports worldwide and regionally.
- The conditions of participation for athletes at the Olympic Games and their ceremonies.
- Athletes' accommodation at the Olympic Village
- Number, working conditions and accommodation of persons looking after the athletes at the Olympic Games (officials, trainers, physicians)
- Clothing equipment of an Olympic delegation (uniforms, sports clothing, shirts)
ANOC provides support to underprivileged countries through the Olympic Solidarity programmes, Olympic Solidarity being the organization which manages ANOC's funds.
Scholarships for athletes and trainers, technical courses, sport administrators courses, have the common objective of reducing the gap of unequal development among the NOCs and offering opportunities for the huge athletic potential existing in developing countries.
ANOC and the NOCs contribute to the dissemination of the Olympic ideal through the National Olympic Academies and their representatives at the International Olympic Academy sessions.
ANOC and the NOCs contribute to developing Sport For All by sponsoring or organizing various national events and participating in international Sport for All Congresses.
