ELECTIONS IN THE NATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEES

6 July 2007 – Two new Members join the NOCs' family
The 119th IOC Session held in Guatemala approved on July 6th the integration of two new NOCs into the Olympic family: the NOC of Montenegro (MNE) and the NOC of Tuvalu (TUV), bringing the total number of NOCs recognized by the IOC up to 205. The President and Secretary General of the NOC of Montenegro are respectively Mr Dusan Simonovic and Mr Djordjije Kustudic, and those of the NOC of Tuvalu respectively the Honourable Kausea Natano and Mr Nakibae Kitiseni.
May 2007 – DENMARK – New NOC President
Niels Nygaard was elected President of the National Olympic Committee and Sports Confederation of Denmark.
May 2007 – BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA – Elections at the NOC
Marijan Kvesic and Ms. Diouri Joksimovic Rulaine were elected respectively President and Secretary General of the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
May 2007 – GABON – Elections at the NOC
Léon Louis Folquet and André Franck Angwe Aboughe were elected respectively President and Secretary General of the Olympic Committee of Gabon.
13 May 2007 – NORWAY – New NOC President
Ms. Tove Paule was elected President of the Norwegian Olympic Committee and Confederation of Sports. She is the first woman to be at the head of the NOC.
2 May 2007 – BURUNDI
Following the passing away of Léonard Nduwayo (Read >), President of the National Olympic Committee of Burundi (CNOB), the interim presidency was entrusted by the Board of the CNOB Executive Committee to General Major Evariste Ndayishimiye, Vice-President of the NOC.
April 2007 – CAMEROON – New NOC Secretary General
During the NOC's General Assembly held at the end of April, Emmanuel-Claude Abolo Biwole was appointed Secretary General of the National Olympic and Sports Committee of Cameroon.
Kuwait, 16 April 2007 – OCA President and Secretary General re-elected
Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, ANOC Vice-President for Asia, was re-elected President of the Olympic Council of Asia by the 26th OCA General Assembly held in Kuwait on 16-17 April 2007. Raja Randhir Singh (India), ANOC Executive Council member for Asia, was also re-elected OCA Secretary General.
Both are therefore renewed for a fifth term until 2011, having remained in the same respective functions in the Olympic Council of Asia since 1991.
28 February 2007 – TURKMENISTAN
H.E. Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov, President of Turkmenistan, was elected President of the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan, and Azat Muradov was re-elected as Secretary General.
7 February 2007 – MOROCCO
Nour-Eddine Benabdennbi is the new Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Morocco.
2 February 2007 – GUATEMALA
Fernando Beltranena Valladares was re-elected President of the Olympic Committee of Guatemala, and Sergio Arnoldo Camargo Muralles was re-elected Secretary General.

Janez Kocijancic was re-elected President and Tone Jagodic was confirmed as Secretary General of the Olympic Committee of Slovenia.

Sergey Bubka and Volodymyr Geraschenko were re-elected respectively President and Secretary General of the NOC of Ukraine.

Dr. Thong Khon was elected President of the NOC of Cambodia and Meas Sarin was re-elected Secretary General.

Franklin da Palma Rocha Semedo was elected President of the Olympic Committee of Cape Verde and Felisberto Henrique Carvalho Cardoso was reelected Secretary General.
May 2006 – GERMANY
Thomas Bach, IOC Member in Germany, is the President of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), resulting from the merger of the NOC and the German Sports Union (DSB). The prior President of the NOC, Klaus Steinbach, is among the DOSB officials, and Bernard Schwank is continuing for the moment as Secretary General.

Mamadou Diagna Ndiaye and Santi Sène Hagne were elected respectively President and Secretary General of the National Olympic and Sports Committee of Senegal.
21 March 2006 - HONG-KONG, China
Timothy Tsun Ting Fok and Chung Pang were re-elected respectively President and Secretary General of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China.

Ms Stefka Kostadinova, Olympic High Jump Champion at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games and silver medallist at the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games, holder until today of the world record (2.09 m) she established back in 1987 in Rome, and Beltcho Goranov were elected respectively President and Secretary General of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee.

Colin Moynihan, former Sports Minister, Rowing Silver medallist at the Olympic Games of Moscow 1980, was elected for a first three-year mandate as President of the British Olympic Association.

The General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa gathered in Accra, Ghana elected their new Executive Committee. The new ANOCA President is Mr Lassana Palenfo, President of the NOC of Côte d’Ivoire. The Secretary General and Treasurer General are respectively Mr Gustavo Dias Vaz da Conceição, President of the NOC of Angola, and Mr Patrick Chamunda, President of the NOC of Zambia - otherwise ANOC Executive Council member.

Michael Fennell and Neville McCook were re-elected respectively President and Secretary General of the Jamaica Olympic Association.
4 June 2005 – GAMBIA
Alhaji A.B. Dandeh Njie and Alhaji Abdoulie Touray were re-elected respectively President and Secretary General of the Gambia National Olympic Committee.

Gustavo Dias Vaz da Conceição was elected President of the Olympic Committee of Angola.
Currently President of the Basketball NF, he is also a former ANOCA Technical Secretary.

General Zoumaro Gnofame was re-elected President of the National Olympic Committee of Togo, a post he has been holding since 1995. Zoumaro Gnofame is also First Vice-President of ANOCA, and ANOC’s representative in the IOC Sport and Environment Commission.

John Coates was re-elected President of the Australian Olympic Committee, a post he has been holding since 1991.

Moussa Aggrey was re-elected President of the Olympic and Sports Committee of Chad.

Gianni Petrucci was re-elected for a third consecutive mandate as President of the Italian National Olympic Committee, and Raffaele Pagnozzi was re-elected as Secretary General.
18 May 2005 – ARGENTINA
Julio Cassanello was elected President of the Argentine Olympic Committee.
Chef de Mission to the Olympic Games of Atlanta 1996, Julio Cassanello, aged 66, is currently President of the Taekwondo N.F., and otherwise ANOC’s representative in the IOC “Sport and Law” Commission.
He is succeeding Antonio Rodriguez, ANOC founding member in 1979, IOC member since 1990, who did not seek another mandate after 28 years at the head of the NOC of Argentina.
Hernan Jorge Ferrari continues as NOC Secretary General.

Raymond Ibata was re-elected President of the National Olympic and Sports Committee of Congo, and Colonel Muramwa Joseph was elected Secretary General.
Raymond Ibata is otherwise, within ANOC, member of its Executive Council and member of its Working Group.
11 May 2005 – FRANCE
Henri Sérandour was re-elected for a fourth mandate as President of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee, and Michel Vial was elected as Secretary General.
7 May 2005 – HUNGARY
Pál Schmitt and Tamás Aján were re-elected respectively President and Secretary General of the Hungarian Olympic Committee.

Michael Larry Romany and Brian Lewis were elected respectively President and Secretary General of the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee.
2nd April 2005 – RWANDA
Ignace Beraho and Freddy Somayire were re-elected respectively President and Secretary General of the Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSR).
The re-elected President stated that the programme of the new four-year cycle will focus on the finalization of activities implemented during the previous cycle, as well as on making the most of the programmes offered by Olympic Solidarity, which is the main provider of funds to the CNOSR.
1st April 2005 – ONOC Elections
IOC Member in Australia Kevan Gosper [currently ANOC Vice-President for Oceania] was re-elected for a 5th term as President of the Oceania National Olympic Committees (ONOC). Dr. Robin Mitchell (Fiji) [currently ANOC Executive Council member ] and Ricardo Blas (Guam) were re-elected unopposed as Secretary General and Vice-President respectively.
The newly elected Executive Committee members are Barry Maister (New Zealand), David Tevita Tupou (Tonga) [currently ANOC Executive Council member], Joe Carlo (Vanuatu) and Baklai Temengil (Palau). IOC Members Phil Coles (Australia), John Coates (Australia) and Tay Wilson (New Zealand) also continue to serve as Executive Committee members.

Minos Kyriakou was elected President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee. He was the only candidate to the post. President of the Panellinios sports club, organiser of the Tsiklitiria Athletics Grand Prix event, owner of a media group that includes the Antenna private television channel, Minos Kyriakou has been a member of the International Athletics Federation (IAAF) Council since August 2003. Emmanuel Katsiadakis was elected Secretary General.
